The unintended expat blogger behind SkyDawnStudio

Hi there, I'm Sofia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in our long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were overwhelming — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built SkyDawnStudio
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — pragmatic guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is all about:
- Real-world experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, and the learning process goes on as well. As long as the information remains useful, I'll continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
